We Are Open!

After a mad few years of working, studying, competing, and training with some of the world’s best florists, I decided to go it alone.

I’d been looking at properties for a long time to see what was available before I stumbled across two properties exactly opposite each other. We looked at the first one; an empty unit, and bare shell. This would have needed a lot of work, time and money investing in to it. We then went across to the second property, and as the electric shutters lifted, it couldn’t have been more perfect for my first shop! With impressive windows, laminate flooring and some nice light fittings, all it really needed was a lick of paint, a workbench and a sink unit building in the main shop area. The shop also had the advantage of being on a busy road, just off the main shopping street in Hinckley.

After deciding on the second property, and getting the keys at the start of August, it gave us a month to decorate and get the shop ready for an open night on September 1^st. With the help of my parents, family, and friends, and with a couple of visits to different wholesalers we had a beautifully decorated shop full of flowers and lovely gifts ready for the open night.

The open night was fantastic! Family, friends, and owners and employees from other nearby shops came to have a look around and support me and my new shop. Seeing the finished product really made me appreciate all the hard work and effort that went into getting the shop ready!

On September 3^rd  2011, The Garden Rose had its first proper days trading !
